Amy Poehler’s ‘Good Hang’ Wins First Golden Globe for Best Podcast
Poehler launched her show in March and beat out other shows including 'SmartLess,' 'Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard' and Alex Cooper's 'Call Her Daddy.'
Good Hang with Amy Poehler won the inaugural Golden Globe for best podcast.
“This is exactly how I pictured it, Snoop [Dogg] giving me the award,” Poehler said as she walked on stage.
Poehler’s interview-style podcast launched in March at Spotify’s The Ringer with Tina Fey as a guest followed by former collaborators including Seth Meyers, Rashida Jones, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, in addition to new friends such as Reneé Rapp, Cole Escola and former first lady Michelle Obama.
“I just want to say that I know I am new to this game. I have great respect for this form. I have great respect for all the people that I am nominated with. I’m big fans of all of you, except for NPR, just a bunch of celebs phoning it in,” Poehler said.
This was the first year podcasts were an awards category at the Golden Globes. The other nominees including Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy, Good Hang With Amy Poehler, The Mel Robbins Podcast, SmartLess, hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes, and Up First.
Leading into the awards category, host Nikki Glaser parodied Nicole Kidman’s AMC ad saying, “We come to our cars for podcasts. Because we need that. All of us,” Glaser said. Marc Maron, known for ushering in the podcasting medium, then knocked on the window and asked her about SquareSpace, in a spoof on the frequent podcast ads.
Snoop Dogg presented the award saying, “Best podcast is a very important category for me,” he said. “Before podcasts, I was what you all listened to driving around in your cars,” adding that the nominees “better hope” he didn’t start his own podcast.
The initial shortlist of 25 shows was determined by the Globes data partner, Luminate, with eligibility determined by audience numbers, estimated revenue and chart placement, according to the published metrics. Entrants also paid to submit and upload materials.
Each episode of ‘Good Hang’ begins with a guest “talking well” behind the other person’s back, with the first episode kicking off with a raucous intro with several Saturday Night Live stars dissolving into laughter as Rachel Dratch worked to unravel her headphones and received a food delivery. Her approach has paid off as the show has been a mainstay on top of the podcast charts.
Three of the nominated titles came from SiriusXM, while one came from Amazon, one from Spotify and one from NPR.
Notably, The Joe Rogan Experience did not receive a nomination despite being the most popular podcast on all major podcast platforms in 2025, and other popular political shows from both the right and the left did not make the cut despite being on the initial shortlist.
