Former England international Andy Carroll is due to appear in court after being charged with breaching a non-molestation order.
Police confirmed Carroll, 36, was arrested in April in relation to an alleged incident in March. He is scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 30.
An Essex Police statement read: “A man has been charged with breaching a non-molestation order.
“Andrew Carroll, 36, of Wood House, Epping, was arrested on 27 April and the alleged offences relate to an incident in March this year.
“He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 30 December.”
A non-molestation order is a UK court injunction.
Carroll made 248 Premier League appearances across spells at Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Liverpool, signing for the latter for a then club transfer record of £35million in January 2011.
The forward made nine senior England appearances and was part of Roy Hodgson’s squad at the 2012 European Championship.
Carroll plays for National League side Dagenham & Redbridge, having moved to the club in the summer after playing in France with Bordeaux and Amiens. He has made 12 appearances for Dagenham & Redbridge but has not been included in their matchday squad for their last two fixtures, last playing against Slough Town on December 16.
