Anjel Chakma death case: Tripura CM dials Dhami; seeks justice for 24-yr-old student
Tripura CM Manik Saha has urged Uttarakhand counterpart Pushkar Singh Dhami to ensure justice for Anjel Chakma, a 24-year-old student from Tripura who tragically died after a racially motivated assault in Dehradun. Five suspects are arrested, with a manhunt for a sixth underway. Authorities are also seeking a fugitive in Nepal.

AGARTALA: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha spoke with his Uttarakhand counterpart Pushkar Singh Dhami and sought justice for the racially-spurred fatal assault on Anjel Chakma, a 24-year-old MBA student, from Unakoti district in the northeastern state, reports Biswendu Bhattacharjee.
Chakma, who was attacked by a group of miscreants in Dehradun on Dec 9, died of his wounds on Dec 26 at a private hospital.Dhami said on Sunday that such assaults are "unacceptable", and added that five suspects have been arrested and a thorough investigation is under way. "No one will be spared," he said. Police are searching for a sixth suspect who remains at large.Team sent to Nepal in Tripura boy assault caseA team has been sent to Nepal to trace the fugitive in the Tripura boy fatal assault case and authorities announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information. Chakma Development Foundation of India appealed to Union home minister Amit Shah for a fast-track trial and called for a strong law against racial violence, underscoring rising attacks and discrimination faced by people from North-East in other parts of the country.
