The second Avengers: Doomsday trailer is now online, featuring the mighty Thor in a very somber teaser for next year's MCU tentpole. Like the Steve Rogers Doomsday teaser before it, it shows an Avenger in full-on dad mode, this time pleading to the All-Fathers for strength to defeat an unnamed enemy and to return home to his child, Love.
In the second of four reported trailers rolling out for Avengers: Doomsday this month, we see Thor in the woods praying for strength and for the chance to protect his adopted charge introduced in Thor: Love and Thunder. "Lend me the strength of the All-Fathers so that I may fight once more," Thor says, "defeat one more enemy, and return home to her, not as a warrior but as warmth, to teach her not battle, but stillness — the kind I never knew."
The teaser confirms that, like Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, Thor will return in Avengers: Doomsday in 2026.
Marvel reportedly plans to roll out four Avengers: Doomsday trailers this month, with a new one each week. Next up? A rumored trailer focused on Wakandans, and a bigger trailer wrapping up the four-part rollout of teases. The content of that fourth trailer is still unclear, but it sounds like it'll be a much more comprehensive look at Avengers: Doomsday, hopefully giving Marvel fans a preview of more of the film's sprawling cast in their superhero costumes.
Even if they're not the big spectacle trailers that Marvel fans crave, the character-centered teasers certainly are setting a tone and a narrative theme consistent with the end-credits teaser from The Fantastic Four: First Steps: The kids of the Marvel Universe may be in big trouble.
The next Avengers movie stars Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside returning Marvel actors Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as White Widow, Kelsey Grammer as the Beast, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M'Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. That's a lot!
Avengers: Doomsday lands in movie theaters on Dec. 18, 2026. A direct sequel is already in the works, with 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars.
