Blackstone is acquiring Hamilton Island, a vacation destination near the Great Barrier Reef. Hamilton Island spans over 2,800 acres, with the majority of the land undeveloped. The deal is valued at $1.2 billion, according to reports. A vacation destination nestled off the coast of Australia will soon be owned by Blackstone, the US-based investment firm. Blackstone announced on December 23 that it entered an agreement to acquire Hamilton Island. Outlets, including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, said the deal is worth $1.2 billion. "This investment, which is subject to customary regulatory approvals, builds on Blackstone's leading global position in leisure and hospitality, including in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, where it has made significant investments across Australia, Japan, and India," Blackstone said in a press release. Blackstone valued its real estate portfolio, which includes numerous vacation destinations worldwide, at $611 billion as of September 2025.
