The Jackets’ flight instead departed Monday afternoon and was en route to Ottawa.
Shortly after the delay was announced, the Jackets traded forward Yegor Chinakov to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Earlier this year, the Penguins and Montreal Canadiens experienced a delay of their own following a traffic accident in Pittsburgh that kept players from arriving at the arena on time.
