Chiefs, NFL aware of abuse allegations made by mother of Rashee Rice's children
A social media post from the woman on Wednesday does not name Rice but refers to a father figure.
The Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL said they were aware of domestic abuse allegations made on social media Wednesday by a woman who is the mother of two children with Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice.
The team said it was “in communication with the National Football League” and otherwise declined to comment.
A spokesperson for the NFL said, “We have been in contact with the club about the matter, which will be reviewed under the league’s personal conduct policy.”
The post on Instagram, made by Dacoda Nichole, does not name Rice but refers to a father figure. Nichole wrote, “I’m just tired of him not doing right by my boys,” and “he tries to put on this persona like he’s dad of the year.”
The Instagram post includes pictures of Nichole with a bruised lip, leg and arm and scratches on her face, shoulder and cleavage. It also contains photos of property damage, including multiple pictures of walls with holes in them, a broken cabinet and a light switch broken in half, as well as a photo of a closet with clothes on the floor.
“I’m so tired of keeping quiet I’m so tired of protecting his image,” she wrote in the Instagram post. “I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH! I’ve dealt with abuse for years, me and this man decided to break up a couple months ago and since then it’s been nothing but hell.”
Nichole also said that “he would put his hands on me while I was pregnant.” She wrote that the unnamed person “left us in Kansas and I had to beg him to send money so that I could drive to Texas with my kids.”
The Athletic could not find any publicly available court records related to domestic abuse involving Rice in Kansas or Missouri. Neither Rice’s lawyer nor Nichole responded to requests for comment.
Rice served a six-game suspension at the start of the 2025-26 season, after he pleaded guilty in July to two third-degree felony charges dating to a 2024 multi-vehicle car crash in Dallas. Those charges included racing on a highway causing bodily injury and collision involving serious bodily injury. Rice was sentenced to five years of deferred probation and 30 days in jail and was required to pay more than $115,000 in restitution to the victims.
Rice returned Oct. 19 against the Las Vegas Raiders and played in eight games for the Chiefs.
