A Chinese billionaire has a similar wish as Telegram founder Pavel Durov’s – build a ‘dynasty of successors’, including fathering nearly two dozen US-born children who can inherit and manage his $1.1 billion fortune he has amassed through his gaming company – one of China’s largest mobile gaming entities.
Xu Bo, the founder of Guangzhou Duoyi Network, has purportedly fathered over 100 children but is not looking to pass down his fortune in his home country.According to recent reports by Fortune and Wall Street Journal, and court testimonies, the 48-year-old entrepreneur aims to father at least 20 US-born kids specifically to inherit his video game fortune. Bo wants to leverage US-based surrogacy to bypass domestic birth restrictions and secure American-born heirs.Citing Xu’s video game company, a Wall Street Journal reported that Xu has more than 100 children born through surrogates based in the US, and has been allegedly seeking “50 high-quality sons,” as per accounts linked to Xu on Chinese microblogging website Weibo. One of the accounts also claim that according to Xu, “having more children can solve all problems.” While Duoyi Network recently denied claims that Xu has fathered over 100 children, they did accept that 12 were born in the US.
Last month, an ex-girlfriend reportedly alleged that Xu’s biological reach extended to as many as 300 children worldwide.
A new ‘Billionaire’ trend
Xu Bo is not alone in his quest for a massive legion of heirs as he joins a growing list of ultra-wealthy men using modern technology to expand their biological legacies: Pavel Durov and Elon Musk.Pavel Durov, worth $14.2 billion, recently revealed he has fathered over 100 children across 12 countries via sperm donation. The Telegram founder said that his will make no distinction between his biological children and those born through donation. He vowed to give them all equal rights to prevent them from “tearing each other apart” after his death. The Tesla CEO has also been an advocate for increasing birth rates across the world. He has fathered at least 14 children with three different women.
