Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can be challenging enough, and its free DLC introduced some even tougher bosses for players to challenge (and die to). The developers at Sandfall Interactive surely knew those added endgame bosses would pose quite a threat for even level 99 players, but they likely didn't expect anyone to spend eight straight hours defeating one. Yet, that's exactly what one Expedition 33 player did.
As spotted by IGN, Reddit user Recordbreaks recently spent eight hours conquering the Duollistes boss fight. Found in the Endless Tower, the Duollistes is a tandem of Duallistes, the boss found in the Forgotten Battlefield. It's designed for players whose parties are max or near-max level, yet Recordbreaks' party was around level 80.
"Only reason it took me this long is because I haven't properly built Verso for damage in the millions yet," they wrote, saying Verso — the expeditioner left standing after "pretty much everyone" died during the fight — was dealing "maybe 200000 damage." That may seem like a lot, but the tough Expedition 33 bosses routinely have giant health pools (see Recordbreaks' 231 million damage dealt against Duollistes), and 200,000 is nothing compared to the millions in damage nuclear builds can reach once players learn how to break the game. Oddly enough, Recordbreaks took on Duollistes before what many players consider to be the game's toughest boss, Simon, someone even a Sandfall co-founder hasn't beaten yet.
Though eight hours is certainly eye-catching, perhaps even more notable is how Recordbreaks defeated Duollistes with 10,545 successful parries — and no successful dodges. Talk about commitment to the bit!
