David Gordon of Cranebrook isn’t barking mad when he says: “Rob Woof of South Hurstville recently gets a mention in Column 8 (NRMA Pilot sign in Banksia), while Peter Woof of Mollymook gets a run in letters regarding gun technology. Woof isn’t a common surname like Smith or Jones. Are Rob and Peter related?”

“There might have been an NRMA Pilot station on Parramatta Road opposite Ashfield Park, but I’m not aware of it,” posits David Evans of Annandale. “There was definitely, however, one on Liverpool Road outside the park about 150 metres back from Parramatta Road. It’s a No Stopping zone now, and I think the sign may have disappeared in the mid-80s. Time for the NRMA to weigh in to the discussion.”

Ian Nicholls’ scooter-bound Oslo saviour (C8) reminded Ken Finlayson of East Corrimal that “In 1975, looking for a parking spot in Barcelona near the bullring, a young lad (probably noting the UK number plates) waved us to follow him and lead us to an underground car park, whereas my fellow-traveller found a street park. After the corrida, we left the arena to find my mate’s car (also with UK plates) broken into, with the luggage stolen. I ran to check mine in the underground park. All was secure, so I gave the puzzled attendant a cash bonus.”

Camouflage is for sissies, reckons Peter Miniutti of Ashbury, who wonders “if the new Trump-class warships will be painted orange”.

A bit of science fact now from Natasha Lee of Alexandria: “After reading Mary Carde’s contribution (C8) on having to tap the box ‘I am not a robot’ I wonder at what point do people with a range of medical devices such as cochlear implants, pacemakers, and prosthetics can honestly say ‘I am not a robot’?”

Some scammers have a way of enticement. Here’s Allan Gibson of Cherrybrook: “The latest email purporting to come from MyGov had the sender’s email address as support@seductiveseekers.”

Toby Waters of Emerald Beach must’ve been boxing clever when he asked: “Is the correct name for anyone who has a sudden, strong and compulsive urge to immediately tidy up Christmas wrappings a dermalvastomologist?”

“We do have modern history’s answer to the Ancient History exam question typo: ‘Who won the Pubic Wars (C8)?’” says Roger Bowie of Seaforth. “It was the Brazilians. Sorry about this.” No need, Geoff Carey of Pagewood was thinking the same thing.
