Comedian Dom Joly has claimed he had his US visa application rejected after criticising Donald Trump online.
The Trigger Happy TV star revealed on his Times Radio guest host slot that he was 'not allowed in the US' thanks to his outspoken opinions about the country's president.
He told the show: 'Because of my social media anti-Trumpisms, I don't think I'd be allowed in.
'I think a lot of people I know are a bit nervous about the US at the moment, not nervous safety wise but just nervous if they will get in.'
The comedian has criticised the Republican president on numerous occasions including during his state visit to the UK in September.
The US is planning to ask tourists for five years of social media history, even from citizens of countries that can visit without a visa for 90 days like the UK.
Ahead of hosting the World Cup in 2026, the proposed conditions are part of Mr Trump's push to toughen US borders with the president saying, 'We just want people to come over here, and safe. We want safety. We want security.
Dom Joly said claimed his anti-Trump social media history meant his visa application to the US was denied
Dom Joly has directly criticised Donald Trump in many posts on X (formerly Twitter)
'We want to make sure we're not letting the wrong people come enter our country.'
Mr Joly posted a video of him watching Mr Trump's reception in Windsor to Facebook with the caption: 'I mean what??? Just what???? We are doomed…#trump'
Speaking over the clip as it focused on the US leader, he said: 'What the f*** is this? It's just insane.
'Look at this sex abuser.'
In a separate video the following day, he added: 'I was watching this joke at Windsor Castle with the orange s*** gibbon, Trump, sitting there brooding away while we all have to pander to him.'
Travellers from the UK and other countries that can travel to the US without a visa need an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA), but Dom Joly said his ESTA application was denied.
The exact details of what social media data tourists may have to hand over at the US border has not yet been confirmed.
