The grieving daughter of a woman married to Jill Biden's ex-husband said her mother's death was 'murder' after police discovered her body during an alleged domestic dispute callout.

Christina Vettori declined to comment during a telephone call about Linda Stevenson's death Tuesday afternoon, then added: 'It's still a murder investigation.

'I would not like to talk at this time.'

Stevenson, 64, was found dead Sunday at the home in Oak Hill, Delaware, that she shared with husband Bill, who was married to Jill Biden between 1970 and 1975.

Emergency audio suggested she'd suffered a cardiac arrest, but New Castle County Sheriff's Office said they're treating Stevenson's death as a possible crime.

The Daily Mail asked the sheriff's office about Vettori's claim her mother's death was being investigated as a murder with a spokesperson correcting the assertion by saying: 'No, it is a death investigation.' 

Stevenson was found unresponsive in the living room when cops responded to a domestic dispute call around 11.16pm.

Lifesaving measures were attempted, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Investigators have offered no further details about the alleged domestic dispute callout and haven't said who may have been involved. No charges have been filed.

Linda died aged 64 at the property in Oak Hill, Delaware, late Sunday night. New Castle Police officers responded to a domestic dispute call around 11.16pm

A police statement added: 'Detectives from the Division's Criminal Investigations Unit were notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.'

An autopsy will now be conducted by the Delaware Division of Forensic Science to conclude how Stevenson died.

Audio from the 911 call placed to the couple's residence mentioned a cardiac arrest, according to TMZ.

Stevenson is survived by her husband Bill and Christina, 45. It is unclear if Bill is Christina's father. 

Bill was married to former first lady Jill Biden, then Jacobs, between 1970 and 1975.

He previously told the Daily Mail how he and Jill were still married when she began seeing Joe Biden in 1975.

Bill said he first suspected the future 46th president and his then–wife Jill were having an affair in August 1974.
