Dolphins joining Harbaugh sweepstakes? Plus: 2025 NFL stat leaders
Quick look at NFL's league leaders in 2025, plus what's next for Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins after they parted ways
Whoever said a picture was worth 1,000 words probably never collected sports cards.
I’ve got a Brett Favre card that was printed after his retirement. The photo offers little, and the card itself is worth maybe a dollar. But the back? Plenty of words, stats and interceptions.
Favre’s thrown 336 career interceptions, one of the most unbreakable records in sports. (In career attempts-per-interception percentage, he ranks in the middle of 216 qualifying QBs.)
For context on that overall number, the closest modern count is Peyton Manning’s 251, followed by brother Eli’s 244. Philip Rivers is the closest 2025 player on the all-time list, and he’s still 124 interceptions shy of Favre.
- Among quarterbacks 30 or younger, Baker Mayfield has the most career interceptions, 101. If he maintains his average of about 12 per season, he’d still have to play 20 more years to catch the Hall of Famer.
Favre also set plenty of good records, along with helping his friend Michael Strahan set one by gifting the sack record in 2002. It took decades, but Myles Garrett topped that mark this season.
Inside: A quick look at the regular-season league leaders in major individual stats, plus fallout from the Mike McDaniel firing.

League leaders: Offense
Dak Prescott completed the most improbable pass of the season, according to Next Gen Stats, and was one of just six quarterbacks to top 4,000 yards passing this year:
- Matthew Stafford (4,707 yards)
- Jared Goff (4,564)
- Prescott (4,552)
- Drake Maye (4,394)
- Sam Darnold (4,048)
- Trevor Lawrence (4,007)
Caleb Williams? He finished 58 yards shy of becoming Chicago’s first 4,000 yard passer, but still set a franchise record with 3,942. The league-leading passers are dominated by three names and two MVP candidates:

In Stafford’s 17-year career, this was somehow his first time leading in either yardage or touchdowns. He also threw his career-long TD, an 88-yard game-winner against the Colts.
