A man has been killed and a gunman remains on the run after a fatal shooting in Melbourne's inner north overnight.

A man has been killed and a gunman remains on the run after a fatal shooting in Melbourne's inner north overnight.
Police and paramedics rushed to the intersection of Brunswick St and King William Street in Fitzroy just after midnight on Saturday.
A man was found with critical injuries.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene.
The man has not yet been identified.
A manhunt has been launched for the shooter, who is believed to have fled in a getaway car.
Officers were seen taking statements from people at the scene later on Saturday.
The cordoned off area is just 100metres from Fitzroy police station.
