Flowers Are Forever in Sten Studio’s Garden of Stone, Lithic Bloom
At Design Miami 2025, Sten Studio captures that fleeting beauty of flowers in Lithic Bloom, translating delicate florals into enduring stone forms.
Flowers may be among nature’s most fleeting gestures. While their beauty lies in their colors and forms, it’s also rooted in their impermanence, making the time we have with them all the more precious. With Lithic Bloom, Mexico City-based design lab Sten Studio captures that fleeting moment and gives it weight, translating delicate florals into enduring stone forms that linger far longer than any bloom we could pluck from a garden.

Unveiled at this year’s Design Miami Curio collection and with a booth design by Jorge Brown and Alban Roger, Lithic Bloom presents a series of stone sculptures that nod not only to the vast range of floral forms, but also to the scent they evoke and the pause they encourage. At the heart of the collection are a centerpiece, two stools, and two auxiliary tables. Surrounding them stand seven totemic, lithic sentinels, each capturing a different expression of botanical diversity.

Crafted from Golden Calacatta marble and pineapple onyx, Florea anchors the collection as a centerpiece, recalling a daisy freshly picked from the garden. Peonara, reminiscent of a closed peony bud, takes the form of two sculptural stools, while Hydraea reads like a single drop of water transformed into a chair. The green onyx Folia side tables echo the form of clover leaves through their organic shapes.
