Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston Return for More Chaos in ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival Trailer
Life is still unfair for Malcolm as the genius middle child is dragged back into his dysfunctional family as the four-parter on Hulu is set for an April 10, 2026 premiere.
The original cast for Malcolm in the Middle, led by Jane Kaczmarek, Bryan Cranston and Frankie Muniz, are reuniting for a four-episode revival to bow on Hulu starting April 10, 2026.
Disney dropped an official trailer on Monday, with Malcolm (Muniz) having returned after a decade away from his chaotic family as Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party. “My life is fantastic now,” Muniz declares as the teaser opens and he’s well away from his dysfunctional family.
That doesn’t last. “Malcolm has been intentionally hiding himself from this family for years,” Kaczmarek as Lois exclaims at another point in the trailer. Keeley Karsten, playing Malcolm’s daughter Leah as a new addition to the cast, tells her rattled father he can’t hide from his family and deny its existence forever.
All of which leaves Malcolm back in the middle of his family’s crazy antics.
Disney last year ordered the short-run revival of Malcolm in the Middle with Muniz, Cranston and Kaczmarek reprising their original roles. Christopher Kennedy Masterson and Justin Berfield are also back as Malcolm’s brothers and series creator Linwood Boomer returns as writer and executive producer.
New cast members include Vaughan Murrae as Kelly, Malcolm’s youngest sibling); Kiana Madeira as Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend; and Caleb Ellsworth-Clark as Dewey in a recasting. Erik Per Sullivan played Dewey in the original series but isn’t returning for the revival.
The original series premiered on Fox in January 2000 and ran for seven seasons, with the show earning seven Emmys, including writing and directing awards in 2000 and 2001. The limited series revival from 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios, and New Regency, will also stream on Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the US and on Disney+ internationally.
