Traffic on the largest bridge in Brisbane ground to a halt on New Year's Eve as a group of drivers blockaded it to perform doughnuts and set off fireworks.
The Gateway Bridge has multiple lanes blocked from about 11.50pm on Wednesday.
Police are investigating after footage of people wearing hoods and masks while they hung out of car windows and drove dangerously was shared on social media.
Footage also shows fireworks were set off from the cars while doing the dangerous stunts.
One motorist unleashed their rage online, writing that to fully grasp the chaotic incident 'you had to be there'.
'At 12am, the Gateway Bridge was brought to a halt as some revheads and hoons in souped-up pimpmobiles blocked the paths of motorists and set off some random fireworks for 15 minutes... That is until the cops turned up from all directions.'
The offending motorists fled the scene just before police arrived.
Traffic was then able to slowly flow along the motorway again.

Witnesses claimed the group escaped because officers weren't able to maneuver their vehicles through the traffic jam until after they had left.
The search for the drivers is ongoing.
Anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of the incident has been urged to contact police.
