Harry Redknapp's horse wins King George in photo finish
The Jukebox Man — ridden by Ben Jones and trained by Ben Pauling — beat 2024 winner Banbridge and joint-favourite Gaelic Warrior by a nose.
Harry Redknapp’s horse The Jukebox Man won the King George VI Chase in a dramatic photo finish on Boxing Day.
The King George, run annually since 1937, is considered one of the UK’s premier steeplechase races and takes place on December 26 each year at Kempton Park racecourse in Surrey.
This year, the former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham manager’s horse — ridden by Ben Jones and trained by Ben Pauling — beat 2024 winner Banbridge into second and joint-favourite Gaelic Warrior in third.
“It is a dream, to have a horse that good is unbelievable,” Redknapp, 78, told ITV Racing, via the BBC. “I love the game that much. To come here on King George day and just run made me so proud, but to have the winner is special.
“I am so lucky. It is right up there. I love the racing and the game, the people in it, and to have a winner on the big stage is fantastic.”

Joint-favourite Jango Baie made a powerful late surge on the leading trio up to the line, despite being a length behind going into the final fence, but could not stop Redknapp’s horse who won by a nose.
“When they came to him, I thought he was beat and would finish fourth,” Redknapp continued. “The guts the horse has shown is just amazing.”
Redknapp enjoyed a successful, more-than-30-year career in football management, most notably with Bournemouth, West Ham and Tottenham. In 2008 he famously guided Portsmouth to the FA Cup, a first trophy for the club in more than 50 years.
He most recently managed Birmingham City in the Championship in 2017.
