How the Jaguars pulled off giving Trevor Lawrence a custom grill
Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones helped surprise Lawrence with his custom grill.
Trevor Lawrence has a way of shining — whether it’s under the stadium lights on Sundays or flashing confidence off the field. The Jacksonville Jaguars’ franchise quarterback doesn’t just lead with his arm; he carries a presence, a swagger that now literally sparkles.
After Jacksonville locked up the AFC South in emphatic fashion with a 41–7 demolition of the Tennessee Titans, Lawrence walked away with more than just another division title. Waiting for him was a surprise fit for a star: a custom grill, inspired by an AI-generated image that had already taken over social media — Lawrence iced out, Jaguars chain and all.
The man behind the surprise? Former Clemson teammate Darien Rencher, who revealed the full backstory on Instagram. “Trevor 100 percent didn’t know this was coming … this was a group project. His wife, Marissa; his mom, Amanda; Jags social team and then a local jeweler named Teezie tha Gawd,” he said on the post.
Pulling off the gift wasn’t as simple. There were three conditions for the plan to move forward: “This whole thing was contingent upon them winning out the season, Trevor continuing to play well and him staying healthy, and if any of those three things didn’t happen, it was a no-go … so we just moved in faith,” Rencher said.
Faith paid off. Lawrence threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns to secure the division crown.

Getting the grill made was a team effort. Rencher said the jeweler asked for three scans or molds of his teeth, so he called Marissa, who said Lawrence only had a retainer.
So Rencher called Lawrence’s mom, who offered to get in touch with Lawrence’s local dentist in his hometown of Cartersville, Ga., and send the three scans overnight.
The Jaguars’ social media team helped orchestrate the reveal, and cornerback Jarrian Jones delivered the glittering gift.
“We appreciate you so much for everything you do. I just want you to know all of Jacksonville behind you. We know it’s a meme that’s kind of going viral, so we got you your own,” Jones said.
Lawrence, taking it all in, joked with reporters, “I think somehow my wife might’ve been involved in that, getting my teeth measurements or something because it fit.”
Lawrence going viral
With more than 980,000 followers on Instagram, Lawrence’s popularity continues to soar. Recently, he also starred in a video at a bar in Neptune Beach, Fla.
In another viral moment posted to social media, a fan named Natasha Lane is seen doing squats with Lawrence on her back, much to the astonishment of onlookers at Pete’s Bar. “When you run into Trevor Lawrence the QB for the Jags at a bar & ask to squat him,” she wrote over the video on her TikTok account. The post has racked up 6.1 million views.
The moment unfolded when Lane asked the 6-foot-6 QB if she could attempt to squat him after spotting him at the bar. The quarterback weighs around 220 pounds, and the comments poured in praising the woman’s athletic prowess. “Legend tbh,” the official NFL account wrote.
