In Netanyahu's Israel, even bereavement has become politicized

On Monday, the Knesset held an event to "salute those who raised the nation's spirits during the War of Revival." The invitees were bereaved families and families of hostages who survived captivity who are also members of the Tikva and Gvura forums, which are affiliated with the right and the government. The event, organized by MK Ohad Tal of the Religious Zionism party, was given the character of a state event thanks to a speech by Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana and a videotaped greeting from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
