Pace duo Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, and big-hitting Tim David have all been named in Australia's "provisional" 15-player squad for the men's Twenty20 World Cup despite injury concerns.

Cummins, recovering from a back injury, played only the third Test of the Ashes, while Hazlewood's hamstring strain ruled him out of the entire series.

David, similarly, sustained a hamstring injury while playing in the Big Bash League for the Hobart Hurricanes, but all three are in line for selection for next month's World Cup in Sri Lanka and India.

"Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David are tracking well and we are confident they will be available for the World Cup," selectors chair George Bailey said.

"This is a preliminary squad so should changes need to be made they will ahead of the support period."

Mitchell Marsh will captain the team once again, with Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly also back in the squad after missing the T20s against India earlier in the summer.

Australia will name a separate squad for three T20s against Pakistan just before the tournament.

Australia will be based in Sri Lanka for the group stage, kicking off its campaign against Ireland in Colombo on February 11 followed by Zimbabwe two days later.

The team will then head to Kandy to meet co-hosts Sri Lanka on February 16 and Oman on February 20.
