Newcastle United’s 2025 may have been transformative, but it is concluding with the side in a state of transition and growing questions around Eddie Howe from a portion of the fan base.
The 1-0 defeat at Manchester United was exasperating. The match may have taken a different course to other away matches across the past nine months, in that Newcastle dominated possession, but they remain a soft touch from set-piece situations, do not fight back from losing positions and offered little to no threat whatsoever.
So how does Howe turn things around? Would internal pressure mount on Howe should Newcastle lose at Burnley? And will Newcastle turn to the January transfer market for mid-season salvation?
