What Jeff Bezos' Welcome Note means
For those unaware, “Gradatim Ferociter” is Blue Origin's motto. It is Latin for “Step by Step, Ferociously.” Explaining the same at the Pathfinder Awards banquet at Seattle’s Museum of Flight in 2016, Bezos provided a guide to Blue Origin's motto.
He said that is his approach to spaceflight. “If you’re building a flying vehicle, you can’t cut any corners. If you do, it’s going to be [just] an illusion that it’s going to make it faster.
… You have to do it step by step, but you do want to do it ferociously.”Bruno partnered with Blue Origin almost eleven years after he joined hands with Blue Origin as United Launch Alliance CEO to create a new rocket engine. Bruno led ULA for 11 years following a 30-year career at Lockheed Martin.
Just months after taking over as ULA CEO in 2014, Bruno reportedly sat beside Bezos to announce a close collaboration on the development of Blue Origin’s BE-4 engine. As president of Blue Origin's National Security Group, Bruno will report to CEO Dave Limp. “We share a deep belief in supporting our nation with the best technology we can build,” Limp said in a post on X. “Tory brings unmatched experience, and I’m confident he’ll accelerate our ability to deliver on that mission.”
