The world of the Kardashian family is about to grow significantly at Hulu.
The Disney-owned streamer has struck a deal with Versant for U.S. streaming rights to the full library of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which ran for 14 years and some 280 episodes on E!. The deal also includes several specials and spinoff series Kourtney & Khloé Take Miami, Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons and Kourtney & Kim Take New York. They’ll all make their debuts on Hulu on Feb. 17; Versant retains on-air rights to the shows.
The deal is the first library sale for Versant since the company completed its separation from NBCUniversal. E! is now part of the new company, along with fellow cable networks USA, Syfy, CNBC, MS Now, Oxygen True Crime and Golf Channel.
“Keeping Up With the Kardashians and the spinoff series and specials have proven to be some of the most enduring and successful content in our library, continuing to resonate with audiences worldwide,” said Versant Entertainment president Val Boreland. **“**This licensing agreement allows us to extend the reach of the franchise while preserving its long-term value, bringing the slate to new viewers on Hulu.”
Keeping Up With the Kardashians ran from 2007-21 on E!. Shortly after announcing the end of that show, the family signed a deal with Disney that led to The Kardashians, which dropped the “Keeping Up With” part of the title but continues to chronicle the now galactically famous members of the clan. The Kardashians has aired 70 episodes so far across seven seasons, the most recent of which concluded on Christmas.
“Adding the original Kardashian universe to Hulu gives fans the ultimate destination to experience a defining era of pop culture, ” said Lauren Tempest, Hulu’s general manager and executive vp DTC content partnerships. “From Keeping Up With the Kardashians to the iconic spinoffs and specials, this collection, alongside the latest seasons of The Kardashians, underscores our commitment to delivering the most culturally relevant entertainment to our subscribers.”
