Lorin's father John Clarke had a story to tell, so she recorded their conversations
When Lorin Clarke asked her father, satirist John Clarke, if she could start recording their conversations, she thought it would just be for them. But when he tragically died aged 68, one year after the recordings began, Lorin felt his story belonged to more than just her.

She had a podcast studio set up at home and her father, the late satirist John Clarke, had a hell of a story to tell.

But when he died aged 68, one year after the recordings began, Lorin felt his story belonged to more than just her.
"I feel like his audience … he had such a connection there," Lorin says.
"It was so multi-layered, and the audience felt that it had been cut short … I wanted to say, well, it meant something to him too."
So, using the recordings of their conversations, paired with footage from her father's career and stories from his colleagues, Lorin created a documentary, But Also John Clarke.
It meant she, and her Dad's beloved audience, had a piece of him to hold forever.

Creating these memories is something Lorin hopes everyone will do with their own family, and you don't need to work in a creative industry to make it happen.
"I absolutely encourage people to ask each other questions and record them. You don't need to think this will turn into something," she says.
"Having somebody's voice is a gift, but also everybody's got a story that's interesting in some way."
Capturing a life before loss
For Inez Goves, it was her grandparents' love story she set out to preserve after learning in April they both had terminal cancer diagnoses.
"Me and my cousin haven't had kids yet, so we're really sad that they'll never be able to hear that story from their point of view," Inez says.
"Something we've really loved growing up with is their storytelling and how, when they're both trying to tell the story, they bicker and talk over each other, and it's really cute. They tell both sides of their story, which is sometimes very different."
