Man and woman arrested on suspicion of murder after man stabbed to death minutes before the New Year

A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death shortly before midnight on New Year's Eve.
Emergency services were called to an address in Bury, Greater Manchester, at 11.55pm last night.
A man was found at the scene with injuries 'consistent with a stabbing' and could not be saved despite the efforts of medics.
Two people, a man and a woman aged in their 20s, were arrested and remain in custody for questioning.
A resident who lives nearby said: 'I'd heard about it online on Facebook and it was quite upsetting.
'I've lived my whole life in Bury and it looks like the streets aren't safe anymore.
'From my point of view as someone who's lived my whole life here, been to college here, been to uni and always lived in Bury, the streets are not safe anymore.'
A Greater Manchester spokesperson said: 'At around 11.55pm on Wednesday December 2025 31, we were called to reports of a disturbance at an address on Tarn Drive in Bury.

'Officers attended the scene and located a male in his 20s with injuries consistent with a stabbing.
'Despite the best efforts of emergency services at the scene, the male sadly died.
'A male and a female in their 20s have both been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning.
'Investigations are ongoing.
