The final trailer for the final episode of Netflix‘s Stranger Things is here.
“I need you to fight one last time,” says a teary-eyed Jim Hopper (David Harbour) to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) in the footage (below). “Fight for a world beyond Hawkins. Let’s end this kid.”
The series finale is being released Dec. 31 in both select theaters and on Netflix.
The theatrical rollout has recently been expanded from 350 theaters to more than 600.
“Over 1.1 million of you have already RSVPed to the finale screenings on NYE and New Year’s Day, and more than 3,500 showtimes across 620+ theaters are already completely full,” co-creator Ross Duffer wrote on Instagram. “What a way to close out a ten-year journey — together.”
The finale comes amid a bit of backlash to the show in the wake of Vol. 2 getting review bombed and generating controversy over the handling of a scene where Will (Noah Schnapp) came out to his friends. The Duffer brothers haven’t commented on the matter.
Stranger Things has been a ratings hit and a pop culture sensation for Netflix, with its fourth season alone amassing over 140 million views globally.
The final episode, which is directed by Ross and Matt Duffer, drops at 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday.
