Canberra will be warm with some afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms.
New Year's Day will bring more of the same, with summer conditions holding steady nationwide.

The New Year's forecast comes following a turbulent few weeks of weather - bushfires and extreme heat in NSW and Perth, and torrential rain hammering the NT and Queensland over Christmas.
