When I heard Anthony Joshua had been involved in a car crash, like many other sports fans I was shocked. I hoped he wasn’t seriously hurt and would be able to get back in the ring and fight again.
But as details began to filter through from Nigeria it became clear the accident was far more serious than anyone could have imagined.
I immediately called a contact in Nigeria and within a few hours he’d managed to secure a visa for me to get into the country and I was on a flight to Lagos.
