Nottingham Forest are set to rename the Bridgford Stand to the John Robertson Stand in memory of the club legend who passed away aged 72 this week.
Forest posted a statement from Evangelos Marinakis on Friday, in which the club owner said he wanted to “recognise (Robertson’s) extraordinary contribution to our club” and he has recommended the name change to the board.
Robertson’s death was announced by Forest, the club where he spent the majority of his 16-year playing career, on Christmas Day. The former Scottish winger had won two European Cups, captained the side and was widely admired across the footballing world.

“This week is one of profound sadness for everyone connected with Nottingham Forest as we come together to mourn the passing of John Robertson, a true legend of this great club in every sense of the world,” Marinakis said in Friday’s statement.
“I extend my sincerest condolences to his family, his friends, and all who loved him.”
Nottingham Forest unveiled plans to expand their City Ground up to 52,000 earlier this month, but the Bridgford Stand, which houses visiting fans, is set to be the only one to remain untouched by the ambitious proposals.
Forest also have stands named after former manager Brian Clough and his assistant manager Peter Taylor.
