Alaa Abd El-Fattah is facing calls to be stripped of his British citizenship despite the activist's apology for historic tweets in which he appeared to call for violence against Zionists and the police.
The dissident was released from years of detention in Egypt after his imprisonment for charges of spreading false news was branded a breach of international law by UN investigators.
Mr Abd El-Fattah was pardoned by Egyptian president Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi in September after years of lobbying by Conservative and Labour governments.
He flew to the UK on Boxing Day and was reunited with his son, who lives in Brighton, after a travel ban was lifted. But since then, posts dating from 2010 have surfaced in which the activist appears to call for violence against Zionists and the police.
The Conservatives today dismissed an 'insincere' apology from 'scumbag' Mr Abd El-Fattah, whose arrival in the UK was welcomed by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
Now, you can have your say in the Daily Mail's latest poll – should the UK Government revoke Mr Abd El-Fattah's UK citizenship and deport him from Britain?
In yesterday's poll, Mail readers were asked: 'Can Adam Peaty and his family ever reconcile after he disinvited them from his wedding to Holly Ramsay?' Out of more than 8,000 votes, 75 per cent of you said 'no' and 25 per cent said 'yes'.
