South Australian independent MP Nick McBride has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Police said they responded to reports of a domestic assault at a home in Conmurra, in the state's south-east, around 10:30am on Saturday.
An SA Police spokesperson said a 56-year-old Robe man was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
He was refused police bail and will appear in court on Monday.
SA Police said an 82-year-old man from Kingston South-East was also interviewed over the incident and reported for aggravated assault.
"He will be summonsed to court at a later date," a police spokesperson said.
Mr McBride was elected to the Liberal seat of MacKillop in 2018 but quit the party in 2023 to become an independent.
