TCL’s Note A1 NXTPAPER has officially launched today with a full spec sheet. New details reveal what makes the device stand out and help clarify its place in the current market. Rather than competing head-on with minimalist E-Ink tablets or fully fledged tablets, it’s designed to be faster and more flexible than E-Ink, but still easier on the eyes than a typical LCD slate.

At the center, the device’s 11.5-inch NXTPAPER Pure display uses a 3:2 aspect ratio with a 2200 × 1440 resolution. It supports 16.7 million colors, reaches 300 nits of typical brightness, and refreshes at up to 120Hz, giving it a clear responsiveness advantage over E-Ink alternatives. TCL says the display is flicker-free, reflection-resistant, and TUV-certified for eye comfort. This reinforces that the Note A1 is meant for long reading and writing sessions. It is also intentionally designed to reduce glare and eye strain compared to a traditional LCD.

With a build similar to the Kindle Scribe, the tablet measures 5.5mm in thickness and weighs approximately 500 grams. It houses an 8,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging and a front-mounted fingerprint reader for authentication.

For writing support, the included T-Pen Pro offers 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, ultra-low latency under five milliseconds, and works alongside 10-point multitouch input. TCL emphasizes friction and resistance over glassy smoothness, aiming to deliver a pencil-on-paper feel for note-taking and sketching. Optional accessories, such as a magnetic pogo-pin keyboard and a flip case, can help the device transition into a portable, lightweight workstation when needed.

One of the biggest launch-day reveals is what’s powering the Note A1. The tablet houses a MediaTek G100 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. That hardware helps explain TCL’s confidence in AI-driven features, such as audio-to-text transcription, handwriting-to-text conversion, and automated meeting summaries, all of which rely on sustained performance. To support those workflows, the Note A1 includes dual speakers and an eight-microphone setup.

The Note A1 offers flexibility with support for various formats, including PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, CBZ, and CBR, as well as third-party book apps, ensuring users aren’t locked into a single ecosystem. Cloud support includes services like Dropbox and Google Drive, and cross-device transfers can happen over LAN, email, USB, or cloud sync.
