It's the globe-trotting black comedy that pokes fun at the privileged in paradise as their luxurious lives fall apart.
Now after three hit seasons filmed in Hawai, Sicily and Thailand, production of White Lotus is moving to a 19th Century palace on the French Riviera.
The fourth series of the Sky Atlantic show will be set against the stunning backdrop of Chateau de La Messardiere in Saint Tropez, a five-star luxury hotel where rooms can set you back up to £10,000 a night for a peak-time private villa.
The chateau, set in 32 acres of parasol pines, cypress tress and jasmine, boasts a Rolls-Royce to take you to the beach, a children’s camp with its own railway and stunning views over the Mediterranean.
A source told the Mail on Sunday that show creator Mike White ‘wanted somewhere evocative and sexy’ and that the hotel ‘ticked all the boxes’.
She said: ‘They had production scouts looking at destinations all over the world but Mike decided on France. The chateau is the perfect, serene backdrop to mayhem and murder. They will also be shooting in Paris and Nice.’

The new season, which will again start with a murder and involve a cast of rich people behaving badly over a week’s holiday, begins filming in April and will air later this year.
The involvement of Vikings star Alexander Ludwig and The Goldbergs actress AJ Michalka has already been announced, with reports that Helena Bonham Carter is ‘in talks’ to play a starring role.
Previous settings have seen massive boosts in tourism. The Four Seasons Maui in Hawaii, the backdrop for season one, saw a 500 per cent rise in visitors.
The second season was filmed at the San Domenico Palace hotel in Sicily and the third at the Four Seasons in Koh Samui, Thailand.
The source said that the first three seasons were set at Four Seasons resorts, but the show’s agreement with the chain had ended.
The chateau hosting the new season is owned by Stephane Courbit’s Airelles Collection.
