The United States launched strikes against the country and captured Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro and his wife on 3 January.
Trump said Maduro and his wife were captured from a fortress-like house and will be taken to New York; the president said there were "a few injuries but no deaths on our side".
Maduro was indicted in New York on drugs and weapons charges, Attorney General Pam Bondi said, adding Maduro will "face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts".
Venezuela declared a national emergency, denouncing "extremely serious military aggression".
