Two men have appeared in Hobart's Magistrates Court charged with the manslaughter of a 66-year-old man who died following an alleged altercation in the city's Elizabeth Street Mall.
Police say Jack Grant and Ryan Matthews "physically assaulted" the man at about 9pm on Tuesday and "knocked him to the ground".
The victim, who was from Hobart, had since died "as a result of injuries sustained", police said.

"Everyone has the right to be safe in our public places, and no act of violence will be tolerated," Detective Inspector David Gill said.
Police previously said a number of people, including a "good Samaritan", came to the 66-year-old man's aid.
The two men, who police say are aged 31 and 20, faced court in Hobart on Friday morning.
They were remanded in custody and will next appear in February.
