MEERUT: A five-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from outside her house and gang-raped by two men, in their late 20s, and then thrown from the third floor to “make it look like an accident”, in Bulandshahr on Friday evening.
She was declared dead at hospital. The accused duo, both labourers at a factory, were partying together at the time of the crime, police said. They were arrested later that night after a brief encounter with cops.SSP (Bulandshahr) Dinesh Kumar Singh said autopsy findings stated “sexual assault and death due to strangulation along with multiple injuries all over the child’s body”. A senior officer told TOI the accused were drinking when they planned the assault. “They confessed that one of them suggested that several young girls live in their area and they could ‘pick any one of them for fun’.
They stepped outside, saw the child, and abducted her,” the officer said. After the crime, the accused tried to mislead the people and the police by throwing her from the third floor. But moments earlier, a friend of the girl’s father had seen her with the accused. Her mother later found her daughter’s slippers in the rented room of the two accused. Both fled after she confronted them. The girl was found lying unconscious behind the building, police said, adding she was rushed to the nearest hospital where doctors declared her dead.
“Three police teams were formed and the two men — hiding in a small under-construction colony— were surrounded. They sustained bullet injuries to their legs in the brief encounter and were arrested, and sent to jail. We’ll ensure a speedy trial in this case,” said the SSP.An FIR was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 70 (2) (gang-rape) and 103 (1) (murder), along with 5M/6 of the Pocso Act on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father. He told TOI that he was living on rent in the building with his family for about eight months. “They were known to us, and we never thought they would do this to a five-year-old... They cannot be humans; they’re demons, and deserve the most stringent punishment,” he said.
