A violent asylum seeker who dodged jail with a series of slap-on-the-wrist punishments has finally been locked up at the fourth attempt - for having a knife outside a migrant hotel.
Shafi Abdi Momad, 30, had repeatedly avoided custody despite a catalogue of offences including attacking a shop worker, spitting at a police officer and flouting court orders.
But the Somali migrant's luck ran out as he appeared before magistrates for the fourth time in just nine months.
Momad, who arrived in the UK in 2020, was jailed after pulling a knife from his pocket and chillingly telling a police officer: 'I carry my knife. When I kill someone here, you come for me.'
The menacing outburst came in the early hours of December 7 when officers were called to a disturbance at the controversial Roundhouse migrant hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset.
Poole magistrates' court heard how Momad pulled the 8cm blade from his coat before fleeing the scene.
Officers detained him shortly afterwards and later discovered the knife buried under leaves nearby.
Momad, who admitted possession of a bladed article in a public place, was jailed for five-and-half months.

He had made headlines just months earlier after being spared prison at the same court.
In September, magistrates were told how he launched a 'volley of spit' at a police officer during a drunken fracas at the Roundhouse hotel in March.
Momad had consumed half a bottle of vodka and beers, was in a 'very angry' state and needed several officers to restrain him.
Nicola Reece, prosecuting, said: 'PC Browning was on duty on the night in question when he became aware of a disturbance at the Roundhouse hotel in Bournemouth.
'Other police units had arrived shortly after initial reports and they asked further units to hurry up and assist with restraining the male in the hotel.
'When the officer approached and took hold of the defendant he made a visible effort to spit at him, which landed on his hand.'
Despite pleading guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, Momad was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay just £50 compensation
He also appeared before magistrates in March after attacking an Indian shop worker in South London while drunk, and failing to surrender to bail.
