A mother was left fighting for her life after being shot multiple times in front of her one-year-old son by two hooded men, police said.
Police were called to a house on Cronin Street in Peckham, south-east London, to reports of shots fired just before 11pm on Christmas Eve.
They found the victim in a critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, and she was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
She spent Christmas in a critical care unit and is still on the ward receiving treatment.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the victim's one-year-old son was in the house at the time of the attack, but was thankfully unharmed.
The force believes that two men walked up to the front door of the house in dark, hooded clothing, before firing off seven rounds through the front door.
Both then fled on foot in the direction of Commercial Way.
Detective Inspector Jordan Gardner, who is leading the investigation, said: 'This was a shocking act of violence, carried out at a family home where a young child was present. It is vital we identify those responsible and ensure justice for the victim.
